We offer Preparation Courses for the following Trinity Secure English Language Test (SELT).

Indefinite Leave to Remain (to settle) or British Citizenship (B1)

For Indefinite Leave to Remain (to settle) or British Citizenship you must pass a Secure English Language Test (SELT) in at least CEFR level B1 in Speaking and Listening.

Trinity’s GESE Grade 5 exam = CEFR B1

  • 10 minute speaking and listening test
  • Next day Provisional results
  • Certificate received usually within 7 days

Further Leave to Remain (extension visa) (A2)

For a Further Leave to Remain (extension visa), required two and a half years after passing an A1 test, you must pass a Secure English Language Test (SELT) in at least CEFR level A2 in Speaking and Listening.

Trinity’s GESE Grade 3 exam = CEFR A2

  • 7 minute speaking and listening test
  • Next day provisional results
  • Certificate received usually within 7 days

Further Leave to Remain (A1)

For Further Leave to Remain you must pass a Secure English Language Test (SELT) in at least CEFR level A1 in Speaking and Listening.

Trinity’s GESE Grade 2 exam = CEFR A1

  • 6 minute speaking and listening test
  • Next day provisional results
  • Certificate received usually within 7 days

Who is the SELT preparation course for?

This course is to prepare you for the SELT A1, A2 or B1 exam needed for your Home Office application in the UK. We aim to improve your speaking and listening skills to a sufficient level, which will help you to pass your  SELT exam and also help you in everyday life.

What will the SELT preparation course involve?

The content of the course will vary depending on the needs of the learners. You will review and practice language functions, grammar, lexis and phonology. You will also familiarize yourself with the SELT exam structure and criteria and have the 1st part of the exam ready. The training materials are also provided together with details guidance on how to pass the exam first time.

If you are having difficulty speaking conversational English and need training from a bilingual teacher then we also provide that as part of your training. We will prepare you fully before we book your exam.

After the training we will register and book your Trinity SELT (Speaking and Listening) exam.

What do CEFR, SELT and GESE mean?

GESE – Trinity Secure English Language Tests (SELTs)

London paragon College is an Approved Service Provider of Trinity’s Secure English Language Tests (SELTs) are approved by The UK Visa and Immigration Dept for visa and settlement purposes. The Graded Examinations in Spoken English (GESE) from A1 to B1 level are approved for applications for Leave to Remain (family), Leave to Remain extensions (family), Citizenship and Settlement.

The tests feature a one-to-one speaking and listening assessment with a professional
examiner, and support the development of authentic communication skills.
Trinity’s Graded Examinations in Spoken English (GESE) for SELT purposes are:

  • Undertaken in-person or via a computer at a Trinity SELT testing centre with a
    professional examiner
  • Available 7 days a week in multiple testing sites around the UK
  • A real-life assessment of speaking and listening skills lasting 6 minutes (Grade 2); 7
    minutes (Grade 3) and 10 minutes (Grade 5)
  • Personalised to allow learners to discuss their own interests
  • Supported by a mobile app, Study Pack and online resources for preparation
  • Provisional results are supplied within 24 hours and certificates are available within 7 days.

ISE – Trinity Secure English Language Tests (SELTs)

Trinity’s Secure English Language Tests (SELTs) are approved by the UK Visa and
Immigration Dept for visa and settlement purposes. The Integrated Skills in English exam
(ISE) from B1 to C1 level are approved for applications for a variety of Worker visas, and for
Study visas.

ISE is widely recognised around the world by governments and institutions as providing
reliable evidence of English language proficiency. The test has a strong focus on real
language performance and promotes the development of transferable skills for academic
study and employability.

ISE feature two assessment modules, one for speaking and listening with a professional
examiner, and one for reading and writing. These must both be taken on the same day as a
Secure English Language Test.

Trinity’s Integrated Skills in English exam (ISE) for SELT purposes is:

  • Undertaken at a Trinity SELT testing centre
  • Available several days a week in multiple testing sites around the UK
  • Divided into two modules, both of which must be passed for full certification
  • Personalised to allow learners to discuss their own interests
  • Designed to assess and support the development of real-life skills for work and
    further study
  • Supported by a Study Pack and online resources for preparation

Exam duration by level:
ISE I (B1): 2 hours Reading and Writing, 18 minutes Speaking and Listening
ISE II (B2) level duration: 2 hours Reading and Writing, 20 minutes Speaking and Listening
ISE III (C1) level duration: 2 hours Reading and Writing, 25 minutes Speaking and Listening
