NOMADS CRICKET CLUB
Nomads Cricket Club was founded on the border of Hampstead and St John’s Wood, London in 1903 as Hampstead Nomads.The name Hampstead was dropped in 1922. Always a wandering club Nomads continues to play a full season of matches in UK on Sundays and Bank Holidays, some Saturdays and a great many mid weekdays every UK Cricket season. Nomads make regular tours in UK, Europe and Worldwide. We arrange around a 100 matches each season. The weather inevitably disrupts our schedule but since 2015 we usually play more than 70 matches each year.Covid has restricted that in 2020 & 2021.The foul weather at times reduced us to 64 games played in 2023. Nomads’ membership is very broad and diverse, in age and ability, and encompasses a multiplicity of nationalities both from the senior cricket countries as well as many new ones. We also have some women playing members. Our teams change from week to week and tour to tour. When you play for Nomads you meet many new people, make new cricket friends and visit many new grounds, some grand and some very picturesque. We also organise a number of suppers and a formal dinner in winter and other get togethers. The club welcomes cricketers from all over the world to join us, playing well and in the best spirit. We are a sociable,friendly and inclusive cricket club that plays competitive cricket but not competition cricket. This website keeps you informed of all our current activities but also tells our story over a century and in great detail since the millennium. Congratulations to four senior Nomads playing members who have been selected to play in the upcoming over 70s World Cup July 28-August 11th. Nomads Cricket Club is a member of the Club Cricket Conference and also the Middlesex Cricket (formerly Cricket Board) which offers Nomads’ members membership of Middlesex CCC at a discounted rate. Nomads CC has a Facebook page and a Play-Cricket website

Dr Mike Wilkins an obstetrician by profession who rose to senior consultant before retiring. He was an outstanding and very tall fast medium seam bowler who bowled off ‘the wrong foot’. He has died recently having been ill for some years. Mike was the best Nomads bowler of his generation. Mike took over 318 wickets for Nomads at the miserly average of little over 12 runs per wicket. He had immense stamina bowling long spells and would inform the skipper when it was time to change the bowling. Never the over way round !. He was also a good Tennis and Hockey player and keen Golfer and Croquet player. He attended many of our annual dinners pre Covid. He also had the good sense to marry a lady who was a superb scorer with all the colours and ball by ball. His funeral was on May 14th and amongst many there to celebrate his life were former Nomads Skipper Dr David Fermont and Club President Michael Blumberg
