Blast cleaning and Sandblasting cleaning services

Definition and Methods

Blast cleaning is a surface treatment process that uses abrasive materials to remove scale, oxide layers, rust, and other contaminants, which is important for preparing the surface before coating. This process is widely used in aviation, automobile, bicycle, and gas cylinder repair. The benefits of blast cleaning include fast execution, complete control of the process, and the ability to remove existing coatings and etch the surface. This method involves exposure to accelerated abrasive particles using compressed air or centrifugal wheels. Depending on the conditions, the abrasive particles can be dry or wet. Preliminary site investigation helps determine the optimal blast cleaning parameters to achieve the desired result. The abrasive particles can be collected for reuse or recycling, and the type of finishing depends on the impact energy and the abrasive material used.

Surface Preparation

A coating or lining must be applied to protect steel and other metals from corrosion. To ensure the high-quality application of these protective layers, the surface of the steel base must be carefully prepared. BS EN ISO 8501-1:2007 describes different degrees of surface finish. Blasting is more economical and safer than manual cleaning and power tools. An important aspect is the treatment of edges and edges to ensure adhesion of the coating and sufficient thickness. Particular attention is paid to protecting connections and welds from corrosion.

Application and materials

Blasting is used to clean surfaces of materials using a variety of technologies and abrasives such as wire scraps, silicon carbide, ice, walnut shells, glass, baking soda, sand, and steel chips. This method uses mechanical energy to direct abrasive particles onto a surface at high speed, making it common in many industries worldwide. Different cleaning systems offer other services, including air cleaning and hydroprocessing. The pressure and type of particles used for blasting are key parameters that can be adjusted to achieve the desired results.
